The National Secretariat for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO Secretariat), Sri Lanka, is proud to announce the launch of a new web portal designed to streamline the registration and report submission process for both international and local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) operating within Sri Lanka. This innovative online platform is part of the NGO Secretariat’s digitalization initiative, aimed at improving accessibility and reducing paper usage in administrative procedures. The new portal offers NGOs a simplified, user-friendly interface to apply for registration, submit annual action plans, progress reports, and update organizational details.

The newly developed portal is available on the NGO Secretariat’s official website: https://ngosec.gov.lk/. NGOs can access the portal through the green "Apply Now" button located at the top right corner of the homepage, leading them directly to the login page.

Key Features of the Web Portal:
1. First-Time Login & Registration:

  • Upon logging in for the first time, organizations will be required to click the "Register" button and provide essential information, including their name, email, password, and confirmation password.

  • After completing the registration form, a verification email will be sent to the organization’s registered email address. Once verified, the organization will gain access to the registration application.

2. Document Upload Requirements:

  • As part of the registration process, NGOs will need to upload a scanned copy of their organization’s constitution and registration certificate. These documents are essential for the NGO Secretariat’s review and approval process.

3. Review and Approval Process:

  • Once the application and documents are submitted, the NGO Secretariat will review the details and approve the registration. This ensures a transparent and efficient registration process for all NGOs.

4. Easy Submission of Reports:

  • After completing the registration, organizations will be able to submit their annual action plan, quarterly progress reports, update staff details and other relevant documents directly through the portal.

This web portal, initiated as part of the NGO Secretariat’s broader strategy to adopt the concept of "Reducing Paper Usage at Work," marks a significant step toward enhancing the transparency, efficiency, and sustainability of NGO-related services in Sri Lanka. By embracing digital tools, the NGO Secretariat aims to simplify administrative procedures, reduce paper waste, and foster better communication between NGOs and the NGO Secretariat.
